What The Dickinson Loop keeps, why, and how to get it removed. Last updated October 21, 2026.
What we collect
- Your password, if you set one: only a salted, one-way fingerprint of it, never the password itself, so we can't read it or send it back. If you forget it, an emailed code lets you choose a new one. Setting a new one signs out your other devices.
- Your email address, if you sign up for the weekly email or sign in. We use it to send the newsletter you asked for and your sign-in codes and links. If you continue with Google, Google shares only your email address with us. We don't get your Google password, contacts or anything else.
- Your towns: the home town and surrounding areas you pick, and the name of any town you ask us to add. You choose them yourself. We never ask for your device's location. Dickinson is the only town with a full guide right now, so the others are saved as interest so we know where to open next.
- How you sign in: whether you use an email code or Google, and, for Google, Google's permanent ID for your account. That ID lets us recognize you even if you change your Google email.
- Which devices you're signed in on: a short name like "Safari on iPhone" and the dates you signed in and were last active, so you can sign devices out from My Loop. We don't keep your full browser details or your IP address.
- Phone notifications, only if you turn them on in My Loop (in the app or in your browser): a notification address that your phone's browser gives us, which phone type it is, and a short name for it like "Chrome on Android". We use it to send the same heads-ups that appear in your Loop mailbox, at the times you chose. Turning them off, signing out on that phone, or deleting your account removes it.
- Your agreement to the Terms: which version you agreed to and when.
- Your account choices, if you sign in: the kinds of events and the businesses you follow, the events you save, and whether you want the weekly email.
- Private planning lists and alert choices: the places and outings you save in Try this next, list names, alert topics, quiet hours and roundup frequency. These stay in your account. Local alerts go to your Loop mailbox. They also reach a phone only if you separately turn on notifications on that phone. These choices do not subscribe you to email alerts.
- Local posting access and updates: the listing you represent, your verification explanation, your account email and review status are available to the site owner and authorized reviewers through Telegram. Approved update text and its listing appear publicly only during the chosen hours. Expired updates stay in the private review history; deleting your account removes your posting requests and updates.
- Neighbor posts on the Town Wire: the line of text and optional photo you send, the first name and last initial you type, and the place it is about. After review it is public, with no email address or account details shown. Photos are stripped of the location they were taken. A post comes off the Wire after a week and may stay on the business's page; you can withdraw it any time, and deleting your account deletes your posts. If you write a post before signing in, we hold it on our server for up to two hours so you can finish, then delete it.
- Weekly email records: for people on the list, a note of which issue we sent and when, so nobody gets one twice. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and we quote a neighbor's post only the way it already appears on the site.
- Events and clubs you submit: the details you type into the submit forms, so we can review them. A club submission reaches the site owner with your account email so we can reply, but we don't keep your email with it. When a trusted host's listing is published without waiting, the site owner and helpers get a notice that includes the account email, so a bad listing can be traced and taken down. Links you include may be checked against Google Safe Browsing, if we have that turned on.
- Short-lived counts to stop abuse: how many times a visitor address has used a form in the last few minutes, so one source can't flood us. These are removed within about ten minutes. Daily totals per kind of form are kept for a day and don't identify anyone.
- "Looking for members" listings and applications: a listing you post (kept with your account until it ends, then deleted after 60 days), and, if you apply to one, the name, email address, optional phone number and answers you type. An application is shown only to the person who posted that group, who can contact you by email or phone. We don't put your details in emails. Deleting your account deletes your listings and applications, and applications are removed 60 days after a listing ends.
- Mailbox notices: short messages in your account about your listings and applications (for example, "your listing is live"). They hold no contact details and are deleted after 90 days or when you delete your account.
- Reports, if you report a listing: which listing, the reason you pick and anything you add. They reach the site owner with your account email so we can follow up.
- Host requests, if you ask to become a club host or an event and business host: the group or business name, what kind of host you are, a website if you give one, and the description you write. We also keep whether the site owner approved the request. The owner sees these with your account email to decide, and we use your email to tell you when you're approved. Approved hosts can also see the status of what they've sent in.
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in on your device for up to 30 days. It only holds a random code, not your email.
- Visit statistics, if they're switched on: which pages are visited and a few actions (like opening an event), using PostHog and Google Analytics, which keep a random visitor ID in your browser (Google Analytics uses a cookie). We turn off Google's ad features, and we don't send your email, searches or form text to either service. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we skip Google Analytics, and sign-in pages are never tracked.
Who helps us run the site
- GoDaddy hosts the website and its database.
- Resend delivers our emails.
- Google confirms your email address if you choose to continue with Google.
- Google, Apple and your browser's maker deliver notifications to phones, only if you turn them on. They carry the short title and detail of a heads-up.
- PostHog and Google Analytics count visits, when switched on.
- Cloudflare may protect the site and run a short "are you a person?" check (Turnstile) on sign-up and our forms. It looks at how your browser behaves, and receives your IP address to do so.
- Telegram carries event, club, host and report submissions to the site owner and any helpers who review them (host requests and reports come with your account email), and tells the owner when someone joins (their home town and how they signed in, never their email address).
We don't sell your information or share it with advertisers.
Your choices
- Turn the weekly email on or off, change your towns, and sign out your devices any time from My Loop.
- Delete your account from My Loop (step by step on our delete your account page). That removes your account, sign-in details, towns, devices, follows, saved events and newsletter signup right away.
- Not signed in? Email contact@dickinsonloop.com and we'll remove your information.
Kids
Accounts are for people 13 and older. If you think a child under 13 has signed up, email us and we'll delete it.
